Another place along the route which is worth seeing is Tolkmicko. Established by the Teutonic Knights in 1299, it has retained the urban layout of a medieval old town. Fragments of the 14th-century fortifications have survived, together with the Gothic tower, the cemetery chapel and the St.James Apostle parish church.
To the south of Tolkmicko, in the Landscape Park of the Elbląg Uplands you can still see the remains of an Old-Prussian settlement, which are known as “Tolkmit’s Embankments”.
We are now slowly entering the Landscape Park of the Elbląg Uplands, where one can feel like in the mountains. One can climb the highest point –Miłajewska Mountain (197 m above the sea level) and admire the surrounding views.
